Nourishing words
I love the writing of John O’Donohue. I’d like to share some of his words with you today:
“Kindness has gracious eyes; it is not small-minded or competitive; it wants nothing back from itself. Kindness strikes a resonance with the depths of your own heart; it also suggests that your vulnerability, though somehow exposed, is not taken advantage of; rather, it has become an occasion for dignity and empathy…” John O’ Donohue from To Bless the Space Between Us
Watching the shepherds and sheep dogs in the Yorkshire Dales left me in awe of their quiet patience and kindness when moving the sheep with their young lambs from hill to pen to be marked and then transporting them back to the field again. They showed such respect for their vulnerability and strength – a true example of working with dignity and empathy.
“Now, like the silent earth, the cradle of all growth, you too can watch the stirring of a new springtime in your heart. You gain more courage. You become surer about what you are, and you no longer need to force either image or identity. When you come into the rhythm with your nature, things happen of themselves.” John O’Donohue
